Hyderabad: The Special Investigation Team of Excise and Enforcement has identified about 17 bars and pubs in the city that have become hubs for drug peddlers and addicts.
The SIT during its investigation and interrogation sessions with film personalities discovered the names of pubs and bars located under jurisdictions of Cyberabad, Hyderabad Police Commissionerates. Drug addicts were getting narcotics from Ganja to LSD and MDMA at these pubs and bars.
Director of Enforcement Dr. Akun Sabharwal confirmed this and said, “We have organised a meeting with owners and managers of all the pubs and bars in the city and its outskirts on Saturday. We have instructed all the bars and pubs to attend the meeting scheduled at 11am on Saturday at Abkari Bhavan”, he said.
A source said that SIT officials would address the meeting and most probably the department would issue precautionary measurements and instructions to managers of pubs and bars.
“Increasing security and surveillance system on drugs will be mandatory soon in all the pubs and bars. We will direct them to install CCTV cameras and to pass information about suspicious persons to the police,”, the source said.
