N Chandrababu Naidu reprimands officials for slow pace of works at Seethanagaram

Mr Naidu angrily directed the officials to put the contractor in the blacklist and to initiate action for his arrest.

Guntur: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu vowed to complete the Pushkar ghat works by July-end.

Mr Naidu was scheduled to visit the temporary Secretariat to inspect the ongoing works but it was cancelled. Later, Mr Naidu went to Seethanagaram to inspect the ghat. He became edgy over the slow pace of works and asked officials about the contractor.

As the contractor was absent during the inspection, Mr Naidu angrily directed the officials to put the contractor in the blacklist and to initiate action for his arrest. However, he withdrew his order after minister for water resources D. Umamaheswara Rao explained that the works would be speeded up and completed by July-end.

Mr Naidu lamented that he was arduously working every minute for the Pushkaralu but some works were at a very slow pace, which should be changed.
Observing the stopping of water on the stairs of the ghats, he directed the officials to alter the steps and to construct ghats according to the water levels in the Krishna river. He enquired about the earlier recorded water levels of July and August months and suggested to use sand bags for preserving water during the Pushkaralu.

The CM stopped on the iconic Prakasam Barrage and viewed the Krishna river. He directed anchoring of 200 boats in the river with attractive paints which would give good attractive look to Prakasam Barrage. He suggested appointing expert swimmers and policemen in the boats for the security during the Pushkaralu. He further inspected the apron works of Prakasam Barrage.
