BENGALURU: The police team, which is probing the recent alleged suicide attempt by woman sub-inspector Roopa, attached to Vijayanagar police station, was on Thursday denied permission by the doctors to record her statement.
The team, headed by Kengerigate Assistant Commissioner Sathyanarayana Kudur, had approached Suguna hospital.
Kudur later told Deccan Chronicle, “The team had visited Suguna Hospital on Thursday to record the statement of Roopa. But, we were informed by the doctors she is not in a condition to record her statement and it is advisable that the team visits her only after she fully recovers.”
Meanwhile, Sanjeev Gowda, inspector Vijaynagar police station was questioned by senior police officers on Thursday in this regard. According to unconfirmed sources, the SI Roopa, who was investigating a POCSO case and had seized a mobile phone of the accused, had allegedly kept the phone in her custody and was using it.
However, a senior police officer, who is also the part of the investigation, said that nothing so far has come to the light during the probe. The police have recovered the seized mobile, which had reportedly gone missing. Sandeep Patil, DCP (Central) has already submitted a four-page report in this connection on Wednesday.
According to senior police officer, Roopa’s condition was stable. On Tuesday, Roopa had taken over 25 pills in the station itself after she had a heated argument with the Inspector Gowda, who had allegedly reprimanded her in front of the staff over a seized mobile phone.
