Hyderabad: The University of Hyderabad administration came under attack from the members of the ABVP who questioned it for its alleged failure in illegal hostellers from the campus.
The university’s ABVP wing members were speaking to the media after activist ABVP Kailasam Guduri of the Telugu department suffered a fracture in the leg in a clash with another group of students. The ABVP alleged that those who attacked Kailasam were illegal hostellers.
The UoH had attempted a clean-up of its hostels in April, but activists said there were still many people staying illegally in the hostels.
The ABVP also expressed anger against some faculty members for taking the side of Amol Singh, who was beaten up allegedly after being mistaken for a Kashmiri Muslim. They said the university was becoming a hub of “anti-national activities” and meetings were held in support of terror suspect Burhan Wani .
VHP wants arrest of accused
VHP Telangana state president M. Rama Raju on Thursday alleged that the University of Hyderabad might become a hub for supporters of terror operatives.
He said that the police and government were “supporting those who were raising anti-national slogans” and registering cases against ABVP activists.
Mr. Rama Raju said that if the police did not arrest those accused of attacking ABVP leaders, the Bajrang Dal would enter the campus on July 28, nab them and hand them over to the police. He alleged that some students had held rallies and organised programmes in support of terror suspect Burhan Wani, who was killed in an encouter in Kashmir.
