Tiruchy: Youth respond with big enthusiasm in delta dts
TIRUCHY: Public display of Yogic exercises marked World Yoga Day in various Government and private educational institutions and in other academic campuses across central districts of Tiruchy, Karur, Perambalur, Ariyalur, Pudukkottaai, Tiruvarur, and Nagapattinam on Friday.
At Tiruchy, the municipal corporation commissioner N. Ravichandran inaugurated a yoga event at Uzhavar Sandhai ground here, in which students of various schools and colleges besides others participated.
Similar yoga demonstration was also organised at National Institute of Terchniology Tiruchy (NIT-T). More than 3,000 students and NCC cadets from RSK Higher Secondary School, Boiler Plant Girls Higher Secondary School, BHEL Matriculation Higher Secondary School, and Boiler Plant Boys Higher Secondary School performed yoga postures under the supervision of their teachers at their respective school premises.
Confederation of Indian Industry and Young Indians (Trichy chapter) organised Yoga session in which about 150 participants participated At Karur, a private school organised a yoga-cum-Yagam for rains on Friday, in which more than 6,000 persons participated.
At Pudukkottai, the World Yoga Day was celebrated at Government Medical college premises, where S. Selvaraj, district SP, inaugurated it at the Yoga Research Laboratory in the hospital's outpatient block. College dean Dr AL. Meenakshuisundaram presided over the inaugural ceremony.
The Public Welfare Association of Road Accidents Prevention and Rescue Pudukkottai, and few other organisations, organised a drawing competition for school children to create awareness about yoga, according to its president, Maruti K. Mohanraj.
Yoga demonstrations were also organised at A. V .C College, Mayiladuthurai, Dharmapuram Atheenam Arts College College in Nagapattinam district and at the Central University of Tamil Nadu at Tiruvarur.
