Hyderabad: The scene was equally bad on the Metro Rail. The Hitec City and Durgam Cheruvu stations were jampacked. Actor Nitin took the Metro Rail to commute and put pictures on social media stating that it was a fantastic experience.
Crowds started moving into Metro Rail stations from 6.30 pm and within an hour, the premises were overcrowded. The trains and station were both packed due to the peak hours and the rains.
Mr K. Anand, a senior software employee, said, “Friday evenings sees a huge crowd in the Metro Rail trains even on other days as a lot of people go home on weekends. The rains have added more commuters.”
Additional manpower has been pressed into service at the station level to handle the crowd. The clearing of the crowd required pressing extra train services but it was not done till almost 11 pm.
The officials were criticised for the overfull coaches but officials said that the rains had led to a situation where people chose to travel by metro.
