In distribution of water, government will accord priority to slum dwellers and disadvantaged sections

CHENNAI: Chief Minister, Edappadi K Palaniswami on Friday warned against impure water supplies allegedly being made by tanker lorries in greater Chennai.

Stern action will be taken against those supplying sub-standard or impure water, Palaniswami told a press conference at the secretariat here.

He said government will allow water sales only after testing for its quality.

Mr. Palaniswami also disclosed that Municipal Administration minister, S P Velumani would hold talks with private water tanker operators to ensure uniform pricing of water supplied by them to the people.

In distribution of water, government will accord priority to slum dwellers and disadvantaged sections, he said.

Mr. Palaniswami said there were practical difficulties in supply when flat-owners booked for water online under ten different names from one apartment complex.
