Complaint filed against KSPCB chief appointment
BENGALURU: A city-based advocate had filed a complaint against the appointment of Chikka—ballapur MLA Dr Sudhakar as KSPCB Chairman. It was filed before Additional Chief Secretary of Forest, environment and ecology department and KSPCB, saying the appointment is in gross violation of statutory provisions and verdict of constitutional courts.
The complainant, Uma—pathi, argued that the Government didn’t issue a notification calling for applications from eligible candidates. There was also no transparency in the selection process. No selection committee was constituted before submitting the candidate list to the CM nor any proceedings to assess the suitability of candidates.
This appointment is a violation of the Supreme Court judgment and the directions of National Green Tribunal.
To be eligible, the incumbent should have a masters Degree in Environment or Bachelor of Engineering relating to Environment, but Mr Sudhakar is a MBBS degree holder.
The petitioner requested Additional Chief Secretary to submit a reply within 14 days as to why this matter shouldn’t be brought before appropriate authority for action and why it shouldn’t be brought before the HC.
