Coimbatore: IAF victim’s body cremated with full military honours

COIMBATORE: The body of a 32-year-old air-force man, Vinodh Hariharan, was cremated with military honours here on Friday.

As many as 13 personnel were killed after the aircraft AN-32 of Indian Air force crashed in a mountain region near Arunachal Pradesh near the India - China border, on June 3.

Of the 13, three were from neighbouring Kerala and one was Vinodh Hariharan (32), residing in Sinaganallur here along with wife Divya (28).

Vinodh served the IAF since 2010. The rescue operation was prolonged as the climate was pathetic aircraft belong to IAF were unable to reach the spot as the steep hills were completely covered with mist.

A team of trekkers from the IAF were deployed along with a local persons after a great struggle the bodies were recovered recently. The body of Vinodh was brought to Coimbatore on Friday by an IAF flight after paying homage at the Sulur IAF station his body was handed over to his relatives at Singanallur on Friday.

The body was kept at his house in Sinaganallur for homage. NCC students paid homage to the deceased. The body was cremated on Friday evening, source said.
