Bengaluru: Roll out that yoga mat, nama‘stay’ there

The event was conducted under the aegis of NCC group headquarters ‘B’ Bengaluru.

BENGALURU: Thousands of NCC cadets from 16 NCC units across city colleges and school participated in the 5th International Yoga Day held at the Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw Parade Ground.

The event was conducted under the aegis of NCC group headquarters ‘B’ Bengaluru. Air Commodore L.K. Jain, Deputy Director General of Karnataka and Goa directorate was the chief guest.

Yoga day with parents
At Greenwood High school in the city, parents were also invited to participate in the Yoga Day. The school invited them because this year’s Yoga Day was close to Fathers Day, which was recently celebrated.

50 k take part in Mysuru
Mass yoga was hosted on the Race Course premises, with Chamundi Hills as the backdrop from 7.10 am to 8.10 am on Friday. The participants ranged from eight-year-old Vipanchi Pratap Simha to 80-year-old Srikantraje Urs.

Seers, other religious heads, politicians and general public took part in the event. JSS math seer Sri Shivarathri Deshikendraswamy ji, Aadichun—changiri math seer Sri Nirmalanandaswamy, Khazi-Syed Hazrath Usmaan Sharif and others meditated on the stage. While politicians, including minister G.T. Devegowda and Sa Ra Mahesh, MLAs Dr Yatindra Siddaramaiah, S.A. Ramadas, L Nagendra and others performed various asanas.

Eighty-year-old Srikantraje Urs walked nearly four kilometes to participate in the event. Some foreign tourists also took part.
