Balabhaskar death: CB plans DNA test to end ‘at-wheel’ mystery

The DNA test will be conducted on the blood and hair samples collected from the driver’s seat of the car.

Thiruvananthapuram: The Crime Branch team probing the death of violinist Balabhaskar will conduct a DNA test to find out who was in the driver’s seat of the car during the accident. It was not clear whether the car was being driven by Balabhaskar or driver Arjun at the time of the accident on September 25, 2018.

An eyewitness Nandu who was at the accident spot stated that Arjun drove the car and that Balabhaskar was found lying unconscious in the back seat. Howver, Aji, a KSRTC driver, said that Balabhaskar was in the driver’s seat.

The DNA test will be conducted on the blood and hair samples collected from the driver’s seat of the car. The investigation team had collected the samples two months ago for carrying out DNA tests. The DNA samples of driver Arjun will also be tested.

On June 19, the Crime Branch team recreated the accident scene in which his car skidded off the road and crashed into a tree at Pallipuram near here as the family and driver Arjun were returning from Thrissur.
