Special team in Karnataka to trace Iranian robbers
Chennai: After nabbing 5 Iranian chain snatchers, a seven-member special team has been camping in Karnataka to arrest others.
According to police sources, a special team caught five snatchers in Andhra Pradesh on Tuesday, when they were fleeing after snatching chains in the city. “A team headed by Adyar deputy commissioner Sashank Sai is camping at Bidar in Karnataka, to trace other suspects as there is a considerable population of Iranians in Bidar,” the police said.
The police came to know about the modus operandi that they would steal two-wheeler after reaching the Tamil Nadu border in a car and abandon if after committing crimes. The police also said that the gang was behind 12 chain-snatching incidents reported last month. “44 sovereigns of gold, the car were seized from arrested 5 persons,” the police added.
