His father has written to the minister of external affairs, Ms Sushma Swaraj, to help trace his son.

Hyderabad: A software engineer, Pandu Raghavendra Rao from the city, has been missing in California for nine months. Mr Rao completed his MTech in London and then moved to the US.

According to his father P. Bangaram, a retired executive engineer with the agriculture and marketing department, his son Raghavendra Rao had gone to work with Microsoft in California on December 26, 2011.

Mr Rao’s elder sister Rajini said, “My brother moved to the US from London and was staying in California. He would regularly call my father, but since last september he hasn’t been calling us.

Mr Bangaram, a resident of Vinay Nagar Colony in Saidabad, said, “We registered a complaint in Saidabad on Thursday. His phone is switched off from October 21, 2017. We contacted one of his friends named Rajesh who is living in USA but we didn’t get any information.”

A Saidabad police officer said, “As he went missing in California, the case was not registered here. There is a separate NRI wing to deal with such cases and we referred the complaint to the officials concerned.”

Mr Bangaram has written to the minister of external affairs, Ms Sushma Swaraj, requesting her to ask the Indian Embassy in the US and the Consulate General of India in San Francisco to help trace his son.

He is meeting government officials here with the help of Majlis Bachao Tehreek leader Amjedullah Khan.
