Bengaluru: Hundreds of students , who have appeared for the National Eligibility and Entrance Test (NEET) for admission to medical and dental courses are on tenterhooks as their results have not yet been announced.
Although there have been several false alerts, there was no indication until Wednesday evening of when the results would be announced. While CBSE officials blamed the media for speculating on the date of announcement and causing students anxiety, the latter wanted answers from the board. "On Tuesday there was a rumour that the CBSE had issued a result alert on its Twitter page and it was removed within a few minutes. We want CBSE to give a clarification on this ,” said Mr. Goutham U, a candidate, adding, "My friends and I are glued to news alerts and the CBSE website assuming the results could be announced any time.” The fact that both the Karnataka Examination Authority ( KEA) and COMED-K are all set to complete the first round of engineering seat allotment process by next weekend has caused more frustration among students awaiting their NEET results. "Unless I get a clear picture about my NEET ranking, I can't take a decision on my course or college. If NEET results are delayed even further all top ranking engineering students will be in trouble,” said Ms Suruchi Kumari, a student hoping for a medical seat. But CBSE officials maintained they were working on a war footing to announce the results. “We are not responsible for the tension caused by misleading reports. The answer key has already been published and the results may be out any time too, “ said a CBSE officer.
