Remarks on Nellore Mayor Abdul Azeez anger minorities
Nellore: The ongoing feud between TD leader Anam Vivekananda Reddy and another TD leader and Nellore mayor Abdul Azeez, over corruption in Nellore Municipal Corporation led to division between the minorities going by two media conferences held by minorities. While one group supported Vivekananda Reddy another group consisting of some religious heads fully backed Azeez during separate media conferences held here on Tuesday.
Those supporting Azeez decided to send a representation to Mr Chandrababu Naidu with one lakh signatures to take action against Vivekananda Reddy. Taking strong objection to some objectionable words used by Vivekananda Reddy against Mayor on Monday, the community leader Abubacker said that the community will teach a lesson to Vivekananda Reddy at an appropriate time.
They alleged that the former legislator was trying to tarnish the image of the mayor since he is banking on Nellore Assembly seat for his son in 2019 elections and TD is in favour of fielding Azeez. They maintained that there are no differences among Muslims and any move to destabilise Azeez would result in loss of one lakh votes to the ruling party.
Meanwhile, the minority leaders supporting Vivekananda Reddy demanded Azeez to stop portraying Vivekananda Reddy as anti-minorities. Former corporator Munaff alleged that their community image is at stake because of Azeez's role in the corruption. He also flayed TD city unit president Kotamreddy Srinivasulu Reddy.
