More rain expected in Telangana
Hyderabad: On June 22, a higher number of districts across Telangana will receive excess rainfall due to the low pressure area that has formed over the Bay of Bengal, Met officials said on Tuesday. Another factor to the excess rain is the upper air trough extending from Chhattisgarh to Tamil Naidu — crossing Telangana. The maximum recorded Tuesday was 7 cm in the northern districts of the state.
The trough on the surface level chart runs from Vidarbha in Maharashtra to South of Tamil Nadu, across Telangana and Rayalseema. The upper air circulation over Vidarbha and TS neighbourhood extends between 1.5 and 3.1 km above sea level. Indian Meteorological Department’s director Mr Y.K. Reddy said: “Whenever there is a low pressure, winds carry moisture that accelerates heavy cloud formation and this leads to rainfall activity. Low pressure means winds flow from high pressure to areas with a lower pressure. The wind also carries along moisture that helps in cloud formation. The winds now are coming from the Bay of Bengal and Arabian sea. They carry moisture and because of this moisture, there is cloud formation that leds to rain.”
A slight drizzle was recorded in the city on Tuesday. The forecast for the city on June 22 is a generally cloudy sky. But rains or thundershowers were predicted towards the evening or night. Maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 360C and 240C respectively.
