Suspend him! Angry Siddaramaiah won’t take taunt lying down

Senior Congress leader said the party is virtually caught between the devil and the deep sea.

Bengaluru: Miffed with former minister Roshan Baig over his outbursts against the Congress leadership, Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader, Siddaramaiah on Tuesday reportedly batted for his suspension from the party.

Speaking to Deccan Chronicle after senior Congress met at a plush hotel here, a leader said the party is virtually caught between the devil and the deep sea. "The coalition is hanging on to power by a slender margin. Unless the Assembly by-poll results are out (on May 23), we cannot take action against any MLA whether it is seven-time MLA Mr Baig or a first-time MLA. At best we can suspend him. That is what Siddaramaiah is batting for to undo the damage caused by Baig's remarks."

Apart from this, party leaders also discussed steps to safeguard the coalition government in the event of Operation Lotus being launched by the BJP after May 23.
