Stepfather, mom held for daughter’s death in Tiruchy
Tiruchy: In a bizarre development, police arrested a 35-year-old woman and her second husband for allegedly murdering her five-year-old daughter at Kattuputhur near Tiruchy on Monday.
Police said on Tuesday that Muthupandiyan (39) a physical education teacher of Alagirigoundanur village in Dindigul district married one Nithiya Kamala, a qualified teacher of the same village, in 2016.
Unfortunately, Nithiya had separated from her first husband and was living with her second husband along with her five-year-old daughter Lathiga Sri.
Muthupandiyan working in a private school near Kattuputhur shifted their residence to Nethajinagar in Kattuputhur very recently.
On Monday, when Nithya was away, Muthupandiyan asked the girl to stand in the hot sun as punishment for watching television instead of studying and beat her with a stick. When the girl fainted, she was rushed to a local hospital by Muthupandiyan and Nithiya and later referred to the government hospital at Salem, where the girl succumbed to her injuries.
Both Nithiya Kamala and her second husband Muthupandiyan fled, police added. Preliminary inquiries revealed that Muthupandiyan used to even torture the poor girl.
Police arrested both Muthupandiyan and Nithiya Kamala from a hideout at Salem on Monday night.
Further investigations are on.
