KT Rama Rao extends helping hand to ailing infant

Madhu and his wife Sumita Rani uploaded a video on social media urging people to help save their baby.

Karimnagar: Working president of the Telangana Rashtra Samiti K.T. Rama Rao extended a helping hand to a newborn baby boy who was born with a closed large intestine.

Madhu and Sumita Rani, residents of Rangaraopet village of Jagtial district are parents of a baby boy born on May 8 in Metpalli mandal.

After the delivery, doctors noticed that the boy was born with a closed large intestine. They informed Mr Madhu that a hole must be created in the large intestine for the baby to survive and this may cost `5 lakh. They suggested a private hospital in Hyderabad.

Being poor and unable to gather the money required, Mr Madhu and his wife Sumita Rani uploaded a video on social media urging people to help save their baby. The video which went viral on social media attracted many donors.

The ‘Nest Residents Welfare Association’, Employees of Dr Reddy’s Lab and Surendar Foundation, Metpalli donated Rs 1.50 lakh to the couple.

For the remaining amount, the couple along with Dr Kalvakuntla Sanjay and TRS joint secretary Pochapalli Srinivas Reddy approached Mr Rama Rao for help.

The latter urged the concerned official from the Chief Minister’s relief fund to sanction the remaining amount to the couple. Officials sanctioned the amount and surgery was conducted successfully.
