Hyderabad: Vijetha fined Rs 5,000 over plastic bag logo
Hyderabad: The Telangana Consumer Forum has fined Vijetha Supermarkets an amount of Rs 5,000 for charging a customer for a plastic bag which has its logo printed on it. The action was taken after city resident David Francis complained to the consumer forum.
The judgment is based on a recent judgment by the Chandigarh consumer forum that stores cannot charge consumers additionally for a bag if the logo is printed on it.
The judgment has triggered questions by many netizens, who complain that they too are paying for plastic bags with brand logos.
They have listed the many super markets in the city that are doing this, including Dmart, Big Bazaar, and Spencers.
One netizen who said Life Style, Shoppers Stop, Central, and other establishments are doing likewise, suggested an online facility to make complaints.
