An international conference on Applied Mechanics and Optimisation will be held at Mar Baselios College of Engineering and Technology, Thiruvananthapuram. Organised by the Dept of Mechanical Engineering, the conference aims at providing an opportunity for all those working in theoretical, experimental and computational aspects of applied mechanics to showcase their new thoughts. It also aims to highlight works that attempt to apply these new developments for the optimal design of mechanical systems.
A discipline rich with 400 years of history, Applied Mechanics encompasses varied areas like solid mechanics, dynamics, fluid mechanics and aerodynamics.
Researches in the field in the last 50 years have given rise to startling discoveries in areas like nonlinear dynamics, chaotic systems, fluid turbulence and nano mechanics. These discoveries have opened up the possibility for utilising interesting properties and phenomena in these areas for better and more efficient design of mechanical systems and devices. At the venue, participants will be allowed to introduce their idea. The three-day fest will begin on June 13.
