Vice President Venkaiah Naidu lauds GHMC over property tax
Hyderabad: Vice-President M. Venkaiah Naidu on Monday lauded the GHMC for achieving the property tax target through the early bird rebate scheme, and 67 other urban local bodies in the state for achieving 80 per cent tax collections during 2017-18.
Mr Naidu on his Twitter handle said, “My compliments to GHMC and other ULBs in Telangana for nearly doubling property tax collections in first month of this financial year under Early Bird Scheme. I am happy to note that 67 municipalities achieved up to 80 percent of tax collections in 2017-18. (sic)”
Most payments were made online and through Citizen Service Centres (CSC). The corporation collected Rs 437.75 crore through rebate scheme this year compared to Rs 362.54 crore the previous year.
The GHMC received Rs 128.95 crore online, against Rs 107.93 crore for 2017-18, an increase of 20 per cent. The total amount received online and through CSCs rose by 20 per cent from Rs 252.58 crore against Rs 209.64 crore last year.
