Rahul Gandhi meet will revive party: Uttam Kumar Reddy

The TPCC chief said Mr Gandhi would speak to aggrieved groups like chilli farmers and unemployed youth.

Warangal: The participation of AICC vice-president Rahul Gandhi in the Telangana Praja Garjana at Sangareddy on June 1 will rejuvenate the party in the state, especially the village-level workers, said Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee president Capt. N. Uttam Kumar Reddy.

Addressing a party meeting at the Warangal DCC office, Mr Reddy said that the TPCC would ensure the attendance of at least 10 leaders or workers from each of the 8,560 gram panchayats in the state at the public meeting. “For us, ‘Telangana Praja Garjana’ is not a regular public meeting. It is an opportunity for us to strengthen the party at all levels,” he said.

He said the Ambedkar Stadium in Sangareddy was the same location from where former prime minister Indira Gandhi had addressed a meeting in December 1979 before the party came to power in 1980.

The TPCC chief said Mr Gandhi would speak to aggrieved groups like chilli farmers and unemployed youth. He said Mr Gandhi would speak about the “dictatorial and anti-democratic attitude” of Prime Minister Narendar Modi and Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao.

Mr Reddy said Mr Gandhi would release a chargesheet on the TRS government. He would also unveil the party’s promises for the 2019 elections. “The future Congress government will waive crop loans up to Rs 2 lakh at one go,” he said.
