Hyderabad: Around 30,000 candidates in Telugu states appeared for Joint Entrance Examination Advance- IIT JEE-2017 (Advanced) on Sunday with two papers, each of three hours duration. They were held across the country.
Over 2 lakh applicants have pinned their hopes on JEE Advanced ’17 as their gateway to the prestigious IITs of the country. This year, the cut-off percentage to qualify stood at 81 for general students, 49 for OBC, 31 for SC and 27 for ST students.
Paper 1 exam was held from 9 am to 12 pm and paper 2 from 2 pm to 5 pm. In Telangana state the exams were held in Hyderabad, Mehboob-nagar and Warangal. In Hyderabad, the examination was conducted in five to six centres while overall there were 37 centres in Telangana.
Like NEET examination, students had to follow strict dress code and had to remove their earrings, watches and even shoes. The one-minute rule was in force for the IIT JEE enterance examination but none of the students came late. Almost all had arrived well before the scheduled timings.
B Sasidhar a parent at David Memorial Instutions Tarnaka said, “As there was Aadhar-linked biometric attendance, candidates had to produce a hard copy of their admit cards. They were asked not to carry anything other than admit cards as they were provided black ball point pens.”
JEE Advanced 2017 results will be declared on June 11 at 10 am by IIT Madras, that is the organising authority for this year’s exam. IIT Madras will release the category-wise All India Ranks (AIR) of candidates on the online portal after the results are declared.
