Telangana, Andhra Pradesh impress as South beats North
Hyderabad: Telangana and Andhra Pradesh states fared exceedingly well in CBSE Class 12 results declared on Saturday. The pass percentage in both states was above the national average of 83 per cent. While AP secured 91.31 per cent, Telangana’s was a shade higher with 95.33.
From AP, 6,936 students appeared for the exams out of which 6,333 successfully cleared it. From Telangana state, 3,795 students made it through out of a total of 3,981.
South India has done better than others with the overall pass percentage of Thiruvanathapuram Region at 97.61 per cent being the highest followed by Chennai region — which includes AP and TS — with a pass percentage of 92.63.
The overall pass percentage this year is 83.05 which is an improvement over last year’s 82 percent. In all a total of 10,65,179 candidates had registered for the exam this year, a 2.38 per cent increase over the number of candidates that appeared last year.
The Board results for all its regions can be accessed at on three websites—www.results.nic.in, www.cbseresults.nic.in and www.cbse.nic.in. In a statement released here, the CBSE said that for the second consecutive year, CBSE has declared results of all ten regions on the same day. The duration of the examination was from March 1 to April 26 2016.
Starting this year, CBSE will also provide Class XII digital mark sheets in DigiLocker at www.digilocker.gov.in. The account details will be sent via SMS to a registered mobile number.
