Hyderabad: Vehicles need add-on for insurance
Hyderabad: Vehicles damaged by falling trees or poles will not be liable for insurance payouts unless the owners had an add-on feature to cover natural disasters. Companies do not pay compensation for vehicles damaged in floods, fire or earthquake without this add-on.
Insurance agent Vinay Kumar Sesettu said, “Vehicle insurance does not cover damage caused by natural calamities. Usually vehicle owners who stay in hilly areas or coasts opt for the add-on feature by paying an additional amount. There are not many takers for this in Hyderabad. The fee for the add-on feature will differ with the vehicle. It is different for hills areas and coasts.”
He said that the fee would range from Rs 1,500 to Rs 3,500 or more on the vehicle. On Friday, a giant pole at Jubilee hills crashed on three new cars that were parked in front of a showroom. A few other cars were damaged due to walls collapsing and trees falling.
