Amit Shah to address Vijay Sankalp Sabha at Chevella today

Hyderabad: BJP leader and Union home minister Amit Shah prefaced his visit to the city on Sunday by announcing in Bengaluru that they party hoped to form government in Telangana later this year, after it does so in Karnataka.

As part of its poll plan for Telangana, the BJP has decided to conduct Vijay Sankalp Sabhas, public meetings, as part of its Parliament Pravas Yojana. Such meetings are planned in seven constituencies, with Amit Shah set to lead the meeting at the Chevella constituency.

A senior BJP leader said that while the Parliament Pravas Yojana is confined to party activists, followed by a voter interaction, they had decided to go public with the meeting during Shah’s visit, with around a lakh people expected to be in attendance.

In this regard, BJP state chief Bandi Sanjay Kumar on Saturday directed district chiefs and senior leaders to mobilise crowds for the Chevella meeting, appealing to them to send the “sign of a BJP victory” through Vijay Sankalp Sabhas.

“We must give confidence to the party national leadership that BJP will win in Telangana in the next elections, by successfully conducting the Chevella meeting,” Bandi told the state BJP leaders in a teleconference.

Claiming that the people of Telangana suffered due to the “corrupt and dictatorial misrule” of the BRS government, he said BJP activists were also harassed and that the people have decided to elect the BJP to power. “There is no need to worry about harassment of BRS government, BJP high command will back the its cadre,” he said.

“People of Telangana want the Narendra Modi-led corruption-free government from Centre to state,” he said, calling for a strong social media campaign as well.
