Hyderabad: 6 held for misbehaving during IPL match

The incident took place during the IPL match between Sun Risers Hyderabad and Kolkata Knight Riders which was held at the stadium on Sunday.

Hyderabad: Six persons from the city, including three women, who got drunk at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Uppal during an Indian Premier League (IPL) match, and created a nuisance by obstructing an individual from viewing the match and further by abusing him, were booked in a case by the Uppal police.

The incident took place during the IPL match between Sun Risers Hyderabad and Kolkata Knight Riders which was held at the stadium on Sunday.

Santhosh Upadhyay, Vice President of Bharath Financial Inclusion Limited, filed a complaint with the Uppal police stating that six persons while viewing the match from a corporate box got drunk and lost control to the extent that he couldn’t get a view of what was happening on the field.

He further alleged that they abused and threatened him and despite police intervention, continued with their misbehaviour. Based on the complaint, the police registered a case against the accused persons - K. Purnima, 27, K. Priya, 23, C. Prashanthi, 32, V. Srikanth Reddy, 48, L. Suresh, 28, and G. Venu Gopal, 38, all residents of Hyderabad, who were viewing the match from Corporate Box No. S 22 in the stadium, under sections 341, 188, and 506 of the IPC and section 70(b) of the City Police Act for further investigation.
