Bengaluru: Live wire on footpath kills pedestrian

Following the incident, the local residents gathered at the spot and held a protest.

Bengaluru: A 32-year-old pedestrian got electrocuted after he came in contact with a live wire lying on the footpath near Weavers Colony on Bannerghatta Road. The deceased has been identified as Balakrishna, a resident of Nekaranagar. Police said Balakrishna was headed home and was near poultry farm gate when he came in contact with a live electric wire lying on the footpath. He died on the spot, the police said.

Following the incident, the local residents gathered at the spot and held a protest. They blamed the Bescom officials for negligence. The Konanakunte police rushed to spot and shifted the body to a hospital for postmortem. A case has been registered in this regard.

Woman knocked down

In another incident a 34-year-old woman died on the spot after an over-speeding lorry hit her two-wheeler at Daba Cross near MS Palya in Yelahanka on Saturday evening. The deceased has been identified as Kavita, a resident of Vidyaranyapura. She was working as a manager at a private firm in Hesarghatta.

The incident took place at around 5 pm on Saturday when Kavita was returning home after work. When she reached the Daba Cross, a speeding lorry knocked her two-wheeler. Kavita fell of the bike and sustained severe head injuries and died on the spot. The Yelahanka traffic police police have registered a case and arrested the lorry driver, identified as Mohan.
