Slow probe: Home buyers protest before CID office
Bengaluru: Prospective home buyers and investors who were duped by real estate scamster Sachin Naik, totally amounting to over Rs 1,000 crore, staged a protest in front of Criminal Investigation Department (CID) headquarters on Palace Road on Saturday demanding the arrest of company directors and a thorough investigation. They were also unhappy with the pace of investigation. Many home buyers had made payments for projects such as TGS, Dreamz Infra and Gruha Kalyan that were promoted by Naik alias Sumanth alias Yogesh Chaudhary.
He ran the projects in the names of his two wives, Disha Chaudhary and Mandeep Kaur, and his girlfriend Shataparani Majumdar.
The victims held placards and raised slogans to put pressure on CID to take swift action. They said that since 2012 they have been investing their hard earned money in Dreamz Infra India Ltd, run in the name of Disha, TGS headed by Mandeep and Gruha Kalyan run in the name of Shataparani.
The investors claimed they did not receive any response from the companies after they deposited cheques into the company’s bank accounts. The victims also expressed their disappointment over the slow pace of the investigation by the CID.
“Though the CID took over the case in March 2017, it has so far neither arrested the accused nor filed the chargesheet,” one of the victims said. As many as 37 complaints were filed against Dreamz Infra for duping investors to tune of around Rs 500 crore, while 27 and 18 cases have been filed against TGS and Gruha Kalyan for duping investors to the tune of Rs 260 crore and Rs 270 crore respectively.
