Hyderabad: The different states in the United States of America have two chemically pure drugs based on marijuana compounds which are easily available. The drugs dronabinol and nabilone are used for nausea and vomiting caused by chemotherapy and also in AIDS patients. Nabilone is prescribed when other drugs are not found to work.
The combination of these drugs is also available in Canada and parts of Europe to treat the pain linked to cancer, as well as muscle spasms and pain from multiple sclerosis. But there are side effects like increased heart rate, decreased blood pressure, dizziness and also fainting. Dr H. G. Kishan explained, “It is very clearly stated that the drugs that contain components of marijuana are to be used after consulting doctors only. Those who suffer from psychological problems can have an episode of mania, hallucinations and paranoia. In older patients, the doses are lower as they can have severe effects.”
