Case against YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, Ambati Rambabu quashed

The police registered the case against them following the High Court order.

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad High Court has quashed the criminal case booked against YSR Congress President Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy and party official spokesperson Ambati Rambabu, under Section 3(1) (x) of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities Act), 1989, in Gandhi Nagar police station of the city.

Justice P. Kesava Rao had allowed the petitions of Jagan Mohan Reddy and Rambabu seeking to quash the case registered against them on the complaint of Sudamalla Venkata Swamy, General Secretary of Telangana Communist Party.

The police registered the case against them following the High Court order as the complainant challenged the inaction of the police in registering the crime despite his complaint that the petitioners abused him in the name of his caste on the night of Feb 20, 2011 at Indira Park, and their followers removed their tent which was erected to hold a hunger strike from Feb 15 to 22, demanding the formation of a Separate Telangana.
