Osmania University releases theme song, film before celebrations
Hyderabad: Osmania University's theme song, instutional short film and news website by the Department of Journalism was released at Osmania University Centre for International Programmes (American Studies Center) in Osmania University on Friday. A promotional short film produced by the Department of Communication and Journalism was screened and a centenary song written by Suddala Ashok Teja, sung by Vandemataram Srinivaswas was released.
The three day OU centenary celebrations are scheduled to be held from April 26 to 28. Around a hundred foreign students of the university from 32 countries will participate in the cultural activities to be performed on the inaugural day.
Around 2,000 VIPs including President Pranab Mukherjee, Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, Telangana Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan, Kadiyam Srihari, minister for education, and Deputy CM Telangana Maharashtra Governor Ch Vidyasagar Rao, Union Minister of Human Resources Development Prakash Javdekar and state ministers will be among the dignitaries at the function. A Global Alumni Meet is proposed on April 27 at 2 pm. The aim of this meet is to invite alumni across the world to participate in the celebrations. A total of 1,500 invitations will be sent to affiliated colleges.
Seating arrangements have been made for 10,000 students, 1,000 VIPs, 2,000 alumni, 1,020 faculty, 758 retired staffs, 1,800 non-teaching staff and 128 physically handicapped candidates. Entry passes have been coded A, B, C and D. C is for students. A shuttle services will be made available to pick people from various points. Registrar Prof Ch Gopal Reddy detailed the programme.
Prof S. Ramachandram, Vice-Chancellor, said, “The entry passes should be downloaded from the website. A helpline for the same has been introduced. The university is making all efforts not to inconvenient those participating in the events. Elaborate arrangements are being made for nearly up to 20,000 people and for a smooth conduct of the centenary inaugural by the president of India.”
He adds, ‘’Of the Rs 200 crore budget allotted for the celebrations, Rs 20 crore is being spent for this event while the remaining will be spent on development of infrastructure. The hostel building will get Rs 72 crore.’’
Food arrangements have been made for VIPs, media and dignitaries. For the hostellers, food will be served in their respective hostels. An offical from the Osmania University said, ‘’whichever hall is available for conducting events we hold them there. it has nothing to do with American or Urdu auditorium.
