Hyderabad: Mumbai cops book Vamshi Krishna
Hyderabad: A day after Hyderabad police arrested M. Vamshi Krishna, who sent false alerts of hijack threats to major airports in the country, Mumbai police booked a case against him. Vamshi had sent the hoax email to the Mumbai police alerting about possible plane hijacks at Mumbai, Hyderabad and Chennai airports.
Mumbai police booked a case against Vamshi under the provisions of Information Technology Act, a senior police official said. The police would take Vamshi to Mumbai for further investigation after obtaining a Transit warrant from a Hyderabad court. Hyderabad police officials said that the process is on.
According to cops, Vamshi sent the email to Mumbai police chief in the name of a woman from Hyderabad last Saturday. It mentioned that a plane hijack was being planned at one of these airports. The Mumbai police commissioner then informed Hyderabad police, who tracked down and arrested him.
Police had said that Vamshi sent the hoax email because his girlfriend from Chennai wanted to vacation in Goa and had asked him to book her flight tickets from Chennai to Mumbai.
