Christians participate in Lent special prayers

Hyderabad: In keeping with their special prayers across churches lasting 40 days marking the Lent season, Christians gathered in large numbers at the Baptist church in Narayanguda, where the United Peoples Fellowship organized ‘Meditation on the cross’. Rev. Dr. Kiran delivered the message to the congregation on Wednesday.

The choir and the music band rendered multilingual spiritual hymns, which were joined in as chorus by the entire congregation present at the service.

According to Rev. Sis. Joy Cherian, “believers from across the city are attending the services. Most of them fast the whole day. The special prayers and other programmes lined up for the day are live-streamed so that thousands of devotees can attend from across the globe.”

She added, “This is the commitment of the believers who are coming with their families. In fact, children are also taking an enthusiastic part in the 40-day special prayers. Many come with domestic, health-related and financial issues with special requests. Even students aspiring for overseas education and career aspirants also come with prayer requests.”

John Wilson, a believer, said “even though it is too early, people are turning up in large numbers. The messages are helping us spiritually. Each is heading home from the prayers with blessings and divine contentment.”
