Thiruvananthapuram: No underhand deal will help UDF, says CM
Thiruvananthapuram: With the BJP coming out with its final list, the CPM has launched an all out attack on the UDF and saffron party accusing them of entering into an unholy alliance in the state.
The family meetings being addressed by chief minster, ministers, state secretariat, state committee members and top leaders of LDF are focusing on the alleged alliance. At these meetings, the leaders are discussing the tacit understanding between political and ideological opponents with the common agenda of defeating the Left candidates.
CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan had alleged unholy alliance in five seats; Kollam, Vadakara, Ernakulam, Kozhikode and Kannur. The Left leaders say the candidates announced by BJP for these seats are weak.
They allege the BJP wants to open account in Lok Sabha from Kerala. Hence with the help of UDF it wants to replicate the Nemom model which helped the BJP gain entry in Kerala Legislative Assembly.
Addressing family meetings in Kannur, chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan said no underhand deal was going to help the UDF in the forthcoming polls. “The UDF has stooped to extremely low levels for the sake of gaining few votes,” he said. Pinarayi said there were reports that UDF had entered into electoral understanding with RSS and SDPI. Since both RSS and SDPI are part of this unholy alliance, the UDF can always claim it’s a secular formation, he said in a lighter vein. Moreover, the UDF leadership can claim that they have identical stand on the two parties.
“Secularism means no compromise with the communal forces. It does not mean changing your stand for the sake of four votes. The state had witnessed the stand taken by the people against Ko Le B formation,” he said.
