Arnab Goswami summoned for ‘insulting’ Keralites
Kannur: The first class judicial magistrate court here has asked Republic TV promoter and anchor, Arnab Goswami, to appear before it on June 20 for allegedly insulting Keralites.
People’s Law Foundation president and CPM leader P. Sasi moved the court saying he had humiliated Keralites calling them “the most shameless bunch of Indians I have ever seen.”
He passed the remarks while discussing the controversy over the offer of financial aid from the UAE during the floods in August. The UAE rulers had set up a fund for the flood victims, which Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said, quoting an NRI tycoon, was of `700 crore.
Later, the Centre said it was not receiving any foreign aid, provoking many to take to the social media slamming it.
Mr Goswami's remarks came during a prime time discussion on the Republic TV.
Mr Sasi is a former district secretary of the CPM who returned to the leadership recently after keeping a low profile following disciplinary action.
