Vemulawada works to begin soon

Indrakaran Reddy promised that the proposed construction of the second Prakaram would be started soon.

KARIMNAGAR: Endowments minister A. Indrakaran Reddy on Monday said that developmental works of the ancient Sri Raja Rajeshwara Swamy Devasthanam would begin soon after the authorities consult the seers of Sringeri Sharada Peetham. He reviewed the proposals with Vemulawada Area Development Authority vice-chairman M. Purushottam Reddy, MLA Ch. Ramesh Babu, temple EO D. Rajeshwar and officials in Hyderabad on Monday.

Mr Indrakaran Reddy promised that the proposed construction of the second Prakaram, widening main road and construction of central bus stand would be started soon. Authorities of the VADA would visit Shringeri shortly, he added. On June 18, Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao visited the historic abode of Lord Shiva and announced Rs 400 crore for developing the shrine and temple town on many fronts. Accordingly, authorities of the temple prepared proposals to be taken up. A special authority, VADA was formed few weeks back.

A sum of Rs 100 crore was earmarked for taking up the works in the Budget. As per authorities, Rs 4.8 crore will be spent on acquiring lands from private agencies and persons. Widening of the premises of the shrine, tank bund, and main road of the town, erection of second Prakaram, additional choultries, spiritual park and music, dance and vedic institution are included in the developmental works.
