Telangana misleading on school fees: JAC
Hyderabad: Even as Deputy Chief Minister Kadiyam Srihari made a statement in the Assembly on Monday that strict action will be initiated against schools flouting rules, the School Fee Regulation, the JAC has charged the government of misleading parents as well as media on the matter. According to the forum members, a RTI query has exposed the Education Department’s lies.
The minister and top officials have gone on record saying that an inquiry panel looked into the functioning of 12 private schools and notices were served on them.
But the reality is very different, alleged the JAC. One Mr Ramanjeet Singh sought information from School Education Department about the committee constituted to investigate finances of schools; he also wanted the names of its members. He was denied a reply.
To another question seeking information on the status of the investigation and the report submitted by the committee, there was reply from officials.’’
The SFR Joint Action Committee general secretary N. Narayana charged the government with cheating parents as well as the people of the state on this key issue.
Strict action should be taken against officials concerned. Also, a government order should be immediately issued to ensure admission fees are in check at all private schools from the coming academic year itself,” he said.
