P Jayarajan moved to Ayurveda hospital

The court had earlier extended his judicial custody up to April 8.

KANNUR: CPM leader P. Jayarajan, lodged in the Kannur Central Prison in connection with the Kathiroor Manoj murder, was shifted to District Ayurveda Hospital here on Monday due to pain and swelling in joints. Prison sources said he would continue in the hospital, where he was admitted after a medical examination by a team of doctors, till the ailments are cured.

Thalassery sessions court meanwhile postponed the verdict on his bail application to Tuesday after raising doubts on some points in the CBI's case dairy. Counsels of both the CBI and the defendant had presented their arguments on Saturday.

CBI counsel S. Krishnakumar opposed the bail plea citing a statement by the high court that it had found Mr Jayarajan guilty. But his lawyer contended that the UAPA section could not be imposed on him.

The court had earlier extended his judicial custody up to April 8. He was first admitted to the Pariyaram Medical College Hospital (PMCH) and shifted to Kozhikode Medical College later.
