Chennai: The suicide bid of a 49-year-old local unit functionary of AIADMK from Manaparai was thwarted by alert security men near the Poes Garden residence of AIADMK supremo and Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, on Monday.
Sources said Mohan, 49, of Manaparai, was upset since his petition to the AIADMK high-command submitted over a week ago did not bring about any action against the district functionaries in Tiruchy.
Mohan who came to the Poes Garden pulled at around 11.45 am pulled out a kerosene can and poured it over himself. Cops who prevented his suicide bid took him to Pondy Bazaar Police station where he was counselled and offered food before being seen off to Tiruchy by cops.
