Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court has set aside the order of the fast track court at Medak, which acquitted three accused in a dowry death case, and convicted all of them to rigorous imprisonment of seven years.

A division bench comprising Chief Justice Raghavendra Singh Chauhan and Justice A. Abhishek Reddy was dealing with a criminal appeal filed by Mr Talari Krishna, brother of the deceased, Bhagya Lakshmi.

Mr Krishna said that his sister was subjected to cruelty for additional dowry by her husband Duddala Santhosh and in-laws D. Narasimulu and Balamani after six months of marriage and was set ablaze by them.

Mr Krishna said his sister was pregnant at that time.

The fast-track court at Medak disbelieved the testimony of the relatives of the deceased.

The High Court pointed out the trial court had erred in not applying the principle mentioned Section113-B of Evidence Act, shifting the burden of proof upon the accused.
