Warangal: Cultural fest on Telugu language, dramas

The best audience cash prize would also be given to a person whose judgment suits the decision of judges.

Warangal: The 20th Telugu Language Drama Competitions organised by the department of language and culture, Telangana and Film, TV and Theatre Arts Development Corporation will be held this year between March 1 and 4 at the Government Markazi High School, Hanamkonda.

The event is being organised locally by Sahridaya Literary and Cultural Association. General secretary of Sahridaya N.V.N. Chary said that eight plays from Telugu speaking states have been selected to be shown during the four-day event.

“This cultural feast will ensure that the citizens enjoy these plays which reflect human values, contemporary social issues, comedy, satire and also current social relations.

All eight plays are heart touching and thought-provoking. Dasyam Vinaya Bhaskar, MLA Warangal West; Mamidi Harikrishna, director, department of Telangana language and culture and A. E. Vishwarop, SDM, LIC of India would inaugurate the programme,” he said.

Explaining the schedule of the plays, Mr Chary said that ‘Nirjeeva Ninaadam’ by Sharvani Srikakulam and ‘Megha Varnam’ by Kala Bharati, Arepalli, Warangal, would be performed on March 1. ‘Panjaram’ by Kalanjali, Hyderabad and ‘Maa Premaku Nyaam Kaavaali’ by Chaitanya Bharati, Karimnagar will be presented on March 2. ‘Reverse Gare’ by JRK theatres, Bapatla and ‘Talupulu Tericheunnaayi’ by Sri Sai Arts, Kolakaluru will be presented on March 3 and on the final day, ‘Aalito Saradaagaa’ by Amateur Dramatic Association, Chilakaluripeta and ‘Shubhalagnam’ by Mayuri Arts, Warangal would be presented.

Deshapati Srinivas, OSD in Chief Minister’s Office and U. Subbaraya Sharma, veteran actor of Theatre, TV and Cinema would take part in the finale. Classical dance will be performed by the disciples of Taduri Renuka. The best audience cash prize would also be given to a person whose judgment suits the decision of judges.
