Protecting, preserving Telugu is need of the hour, says Telugu litterateur

He stressed the need to protect and preserve Telugu as mother language in spite of the fact that we learn many foreign languages for livelihood.

Vijayawada: The Cultural Centre of Vijayawada and Amaravati, in association with Andhra Arts Academy organised International Mother Language Day celebrations on Thursday at the CCVA.

Well known Telugu litterateur Palaparthi Symalanada Prasad, who was the chief guest, it is only the mother tongue that helps one learn, write, understand and speak.

He stressed the need to protect and preserve Telugu as mother language in spite of the fact that we learn many foreign languages for livelihood.

Historian and expert in palaeography Dr E. Sivanagi Reddy made a presentation on the origin and development of Telugu language and script based on Prakrit and Telugu inscriptions.

Andhra Arts Academy secretary Golla Narayana Rao, Harmohinder Singh Sahni of Sri Guru Sikh Sabha, Abdul Azeem, Valiveti Sivarama Krishna Murthy and Chimpirayya of Malaxmi Group were present.
