Hyderabad: Girl commits suicide in boyfriend's room
Hyderabad: A 20-year-old girl from Yadadri district committed suicide in her boyfriend’s room at Medipally after he refused to marry her. The police booked a case of cheating and abetment to suicide against the girl’s boyfriend, Bogga Naveen, 23, and took him into custody for questioning.
Medipally inspector B. Anji Reddy said the victim was identified as Pailla Divya Reddy of Puligalla in Valigonda mandal of Yadadri district. She used to stay in a hostel at Ramanthapur and was doing her graduation.
Police said Naveen had lured Divya, then an Intermediate student, four years ago with an offer of marriage. They had been in an affair since then. Of late, however, Naveen had stated Divya, police said.
On Wednesday, Divya went to Naveen’s room to talk to him regarding their marriage. He refused and went out of the room. Divya allegedly hanged herself from the ceiling.
“After a discussion between them on the marriage, he left the room saying that he would not marry her. After some time, he returned to the room only to see that Divya had committed suicide. She had latched the door from inside and hanged herself. Naveen immediately called the alerted the police about the incident,” inspector Anji Reddy said.
Police went to the scene and informed Divya’s parents of the incident.
Her father, Mr P. Madhusudhan Reddy, lodged a complaint with the police alleging that Naveen had cheated his daughter and had abetted her to suicide. Based on the complaint, the Medipally police registered under Sections 420 (cheating) and 306 (abetment to suicide) of the IPC. The police took Naveen into custody for questioning.
