Gandhipuram to be key station in coal area

The Gandhipuram will be turned a major junction after completion of he project.

Kothagudem: Gandhipuram Railway station in Karepalli mandal will be made a key junction after completion of Kovvur-Bhadrachalam Road railway line.

The Union Railway Ministry is very particular on the proposals sent by Telangana on providing railwat circuit connecting all SCCL mining areas.

SCCL is ready to extend all assistance to the railway circuit of coal mining areas. With this, the importance of Gandhipuram will be increased and it should be shaped as major junction in the new project. SCCL is ready to spend '80 crore to the railway line between Sattupalli to Kothagudem.

SCCL wants to provide free transport to its coal from its mines. About RS 350 crore was allocated for Kovvur-Bhadrachalam Road line by railways.

The Gandhipuram will be turned a major junction after completion of he project.

It is planned to run 200 passengers and goods trains proceeding to Hyderabad via Kovvur and Gandhipuram. If it is done, the distance between Vizag and Hyderabad will be reduced 130 kilometers.

The Central government is considering the line of Bhadrachalam-Kovvur as a key and the passengers moment will not be hit in coastal areas in case of cyclones and Tsunamis occurrances. The line will also help for coming up new industries in Khammam, Bhadradri-Kothagudem, Mahabubabad and Warangal districts. The people of Yellandu, Manuguru, Kothagudem, Sattupalli, Sarpaka, Paloncha and Aswaraopet areas can get train services with the project.

South Central Railways have been trying since long to reduce train flow at Vijayawada junction, but in vain. The Kovvur- Bhadrachalam Road is the best alternative line for it. The people coming from Kolkata, Vizag and Rajahmundry will reach Hyderabad through the new line and time of journey will be reduced at least two hours.
