Education, health top priority for new government

HYDERABAD: Education minister G. Jagadish Reddy on Thursday said that priority would be given to improve basic amenities and to fill up the vacant posts of teachers and lecturers in government schools and colleges across the state.

While thanking Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao for inducting him as a minister for the second time, Mr Jagadish Reddy said that he (the CM) had given priority to the agriculture and irrigation sectors in his first term and in this term, the government focus would be on health and education sectors.

Replying to a query, he said that he would hold review meetings for all universities in the state to take steps to improve facilities and faculty. Stating that the CM was advocating KG-to-PG free education since the Telangana movement, Mr Reddy said that after coming to power, the Chief Minister had brought in various reforms in the education sector.
