Anantapur: A woman was allegedly tied to a tree and beaten up by her husband and residents of her colony for taking hand loans and failing to repay the same in Rajendranagar area of Adoni in Kurnool district.

She fled from her home 10 days ago, being unable to clear her debts.

Her husband Jammanna was angry with his wife and nabbed her on Wednesday and took her home. There, with her husband’s help, the moneylenders tied her up to a tree and beat her up for cheating people.

Jammanna alleged that his wife also took away silver and gold from their house. She was released after other residents intervened. She alleged that another person took money from her and fled from the town.
