Chennai: Around 210 candidates from Tamil Nadu have cleared the UPSC civil services (main) exam, the results of which were released on Tuesday.
Of 15,900 candidates who appeared for the exam from across the country, 2,961 candidates have qualified for personality test (interview) to be conducted from March 20.
The commission had notified 1,174 vacancies in various posts including that of IAS, IPS, IFS and other central services. Totally 6.5 lakh candidates appeared for the civil services (preliminary) exam conducted on August 7, 2016. The main exam was conducted from December 3 to 9.
This year 112 candidates who were trained at the Manithaneyam IAS coaching centre in the city have qualified for the personality test. The coaching for the personality test will be conducted at the centre free of cost.
In a release, the centre’s director Karthikeyan said successful candidates, who had not undergone coaching at the centre for the main examination, could also apply for the sessions at the centre for the personality test. They can register at www.saidais.com
Another coaching centre Shankar IAS Academy also announced that they would conduct free coaching for personality test to the qualified candidates.
TNPSC Group IV results out; counselling from March 20
The Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC), on Monday released the results of the written examination for the Group IV posts.
The commission had notified 5,451 vacancies in the posts of junior assistant, bill collector grade-1, field surveyor, draftsman and typist last year. More than 12.51 lakh candidates appeared for the written exam conducted on November 6, 2016.
“Out of 12.51 lakh candidates who appeared, marks and rank position of 11.50 lakh candidates are hosted on the website,” TNPSC said in a release.
The overall rank, communal category rank and special category rank of the candidates are also hosted. The candidates will be called for certificate verification from 20.03.2017. Later, they will be called for counselling according to their rank, vacancy position and rule of reservations of appointment. Details about the counselling will be announced soon on the website of the commission www.tnpsc.gov.in
