Milma to probe sale of damaged flavoured milk
KOCHI: Kerala Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation Ltd (Milma) authorities have received a complaint against the sale of contaminated ‘Milma plus strawberry flavour’.
The complainant had health problems after consuming the damaged milk brought from a leading supermarket in the city. But the authorities ignored the complaint and took no step to address the grievance, he alleged.
“It is unfortunate that a reliable and leading state-owned dairy company like Milma is selling products unfit for consuming. Though it is a serious issue, they failed to address my grievance. In the supermarket, several other bottles with the same batch number ‘CKFA12’ are being sold. After having a little bit of milk from the bottle, I started vomiting,” complainant Ashish Poddar said.
Meanwhile, Milma chair P.T. Gopala Kurup told DC that he had received a complaint from the consumer and asked the Ernakulam dairy officials to conduct a probe.
“We’ve not received any other complaints about the quality of the product. However, steps will be taken to avoid such incidence in future,” he said.
Milma is the state’s biggest milk supplier with an average daily procurement 11 lakh litres.
